The goal of this project is to reduce the use of single use plastic bags. Starting in 2022, The Alpena Farmers' Market is hoping to eliminate the use of single use plastic bags at the market. In order the help with the acceptance of this program we would like to provide our customers with reusable bags at a minimal or at no cost to the customer. We hope that this project would then spread to other farmers markets and businesses within the area. Thank you Alpena Alcona Area Credit union and Community Foundation Community Impact Grant!
Local musician will be featured throughout the season with help from Thunder Bay Family Dentistry, Thunder Bay Folk Society, and Alpena Street Performers.
This program sponsored by Greenstone Farm Credit Union encourages and educates kids about healthier food and healthier choices by participating in fun, interactive activities alongside market vendors and volunteers. Kids are also given the opportunity to sell their own produce and products for free on certain market days. By empowering kids we hope to future health outcomes of childhood obesity while developing a new generation of informed and healthier market shoppers and producers.

Free transportation to the market for seniors using a TBTA vouchers that can be found at The Friends of the Alpena Farmers Market booth located at the market. This program is made possible through the Older Persons Act/Alpena Count millage dollars.
$500 scholarship awarded to college bound or high school senior pursuing an agricultural, forestry, wildlife, or environmental science major. Congratulations Ava Wsner! This years 2023 Scholarship winner. Deadline for for 2024 application is April 3rd 2024.
